Swim Meets

Swimmers may choose to attend as many or few meets as they desire (none are required).  For guidance on the best meets to attend for new or younger swimmers, please consult with the Meet Coordinator or Head Coach.  All of the listed meets are tentative until ASA team entries have been accepted by the host team. Also, we will require a minimum number of swimmers (typically 5) attending in order to send a coach to most swim meets.

Please contact our Meet Coordinator with questions and for more details on attending swim meets:

Andrea Maag, ASA Meet Coordinator

2012 Spring Season Swim Meets

Saturday, February 4, 2012: Swim Meet at Beach Ottumwa in Ottumwa, Iowa.

The meet is open to any and all Aquadogs swimmers!  This is a great meet for any age and all skill levels, and all swimmers are encouraged to attend!  CLICK HERE for driving directions and pool details.

The meet will begin with warm-ups for the Kirksville Aquadogs starting at 8:25 a.m., and the meet itself beginning at 9:00.  There will be five other teams besides us at this meet: Ottumwa, Knoxville, Pella, Grinnell, and Brooklyn (all in IA), but this is a terrific meet for new and inexperienced swimmers to attend.  Ottumwa has always been a gracious host and they usually award ribbons down to the 8th or 9th places in events.  The meet should be finished by about noon that day.

Swimmers may swim in three individual events and two relays (sometimes we put together relays on the spot that day, too, so if your swimmer is interested in a relay let Andrea Maag know).  Swim families should have received an email containing registration and event information, but feel free to email Andrea for more details.

Registrations are due back by Monday, January 30.  There is no entry fee for this meet, but ASA usually asks swimmers to pay the club a $10 fee for meets (payable to Keith Harrison, ASA treasurer) so we can pay for a coach to attend (if we have more than five swimmers).  If you are interested in car-pooling, please let Andrea Maag know that as well.

You may contact Andrea with your entries by either e-mailing her at amaag@truman.edu or by calling her home number of 627-4907.

Previous 2011 Fall Season Swim Meets

October 22-23: COOL Spectacular at the Blue Valley Northwest High School in Overland Park, KS.

The meet is open to swimmers who are registered with USA Swimming and Mo Valley Swimming. Any swimmer entered in the meet, unaccompanied by a USA Swimming member coach, must be certified by a USA Swimming member coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water.  The swimmers age on the first day of the meet determines his or her age throughout the meet. Each swimmer is limited to four individual events and one relay per day.  Swimmers may only swim in one session per day.  Details and order of events may be found at this site: http://www.missourivalleyswimming.com/meets/COOL-Spooktacular.pdf Entry fees are $4.00/event and $6.00/relay.

If you are interested in swimming in this meet, please let Andrea Maag know by Monday, Oct. 10, so the entries can be sent in by their deadline.  Send Andrea Maag the name of the swimmer(s) and which event numbers they wish to attend.  You will need to send the entry fee money to Keith Harrison, ASA treasurer, who will send one large check to the meet.
