NEW SWIM COACHES NEEDED! (and new swim suits :)
Kirksville's Adair Swim Association (ASA) Aquadogs youth swim team is looking to staff some updated coaching positions for the coming 2012-2013 academic season.
Positions open are:
Competitive Swimming Coach (which will require some high school or college swim team experience)
Swimming Instruction Coach (which will require some swim lesson experience)
- The positions are part-time, and the hours set will depend on coach availability. Coaches can choose the number of hours per week they want to work, with the minimum being 4 hours and the maximum being 16 hours. Schedules are set by the semester, and breaks are given according to the Truman and Kirksville RIII calendars. (There are also 2 returning coaches, for a possible total of 4 coaches.)
- Generally, most practices are held in the afternoons (after school), early evenings, or Saturday mornings.
- Most swim practices are held at the Kirksville Aquatic Center, although a few are occasionally held at the Truman Natatorium.
- Although not a requirement of the job, coaches may also attend swim meets if interested. Coaches are paid gas, food, lodging, and hours worked at meet.
- Pay is negotiable, but ranges from $7.50 - $10.00 per hour.
- Coaches will be background-checked, and, if not already holding certain certifications, will be Red-Cross trained and USA-coach certified.
- The Aquadogs begin practices Aug 20, and the swim season will start in earnest in September. Academic year practices will then run through May, and a summer season will begin next June.
- These are great positions for anyone who loves swimming or coaching, anyone seeking some part-time hours, anyone with swim team or lifeguard experience, anyone seeking to enhance their educational experience (such as Truman Health & Exercise Science majors), or anyone looking to build their resume with some good management and supervision credentials.
