Hello Swimming Families!

I have lots of news, and I may need more than one bulletin to fill you all in!

First things first - some fun!

PARADE: Dana Poole, our Spirit Coordinator, is organizing our participation in the upcoming Truman parade on the Saturday morning of 10/8/11. We will have a truck with a trailer to pull our swimmers, and candy to toss low. This Saturday, 10/1/11, we will meet at 9:45 am at the pool entrance, a little before practice, and decorate some posters to hang on our trailer. All swimmers are welcome - even if they are not staying for practice. For the parade swimmers can wear any caps, goggles and gear they have - or dress in the Aquadogs purple and white. Riding in the parade is lots of fun!The location and time to meet will be emailed and on the website next week.

GEAR: And speaking of apparel and gear - Karey Bitney has graciously agreed to help us complete a new apparel order. We are just organizing the system for this order - and I will send another email shortly. Please look at the website to see what is available and the prices. I think we will probably e-mail orders to Karey, who will collect them, and then drop checks off at the pool -but let me finalize that before we start in earnest.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Some of you may know that Deanna Hunsacker needed to resign from her post as Vice President this fall. Bryan and Deb Krusniak have offered to move into that position - it really needs someone that is very experienced and knows our club history very well -  if we can find a volunteer to take over as Secretary. The Secretary attends our monthly meetings, takes notes, and creates the minutes. It is a very straightforward commitment with no hidden hours or duties. If you can write legibly - or type efficiently - this is the job for you. Please seriously considering volunteering. All of the board members have been trying to pitch in and cover the jobs that need to be done as Vice President - but it's time to make a more efficient change. We are grateful to Deanna Hunsacker for her long service to the ASA - and we thank Bryan Krusniak and Deb Krusniak very much for responding to the need for a new Vice President. Please contact me if you are willing!

FLIPPERS: One more quick item - and I'll save the rest for another bulletin. The coaches have requested that we ask our swimmers to each purchase a pair of flippers. Flippers allow younger swimmers to go faster, and because they support the body - other aspects of technique can be isolated and worked on. The cost is roughly $25.00 a pair. We have a few club pairs to use - but they must be Lysoled to prevent foot fungi, etc. I'll send a few links for flippers in a separate email. We'd like every swimmer to have a pair by the end of the month. If this is a financial hardship please send me a private email. Kids really love flippers too!
