Hello, Aquadog families!  Lots of things going on in April and May, some of which we are still figuring out….keep reading!

·         First of all, be sure to plan on attending this Saturday’s Intrasquad Meet at the Truman Natatorium.  Note the time change: the Intrasquad Meet will be held from 3:30-5:00pm and not at 1:30 as originally stated.  All swimmers, juniors included, are encouraged to attend!  This will be a very informal, very fun meet with only Aquadogs swimmers in attendance.  There will be events such as the 25 free (one length) and 25 back for the newer swimmers, and swimmers who haven’t learned to dive from the blocks yet are welcome to dive from the side or start in the water.  Parents are welcome to attend, and the Nat has a nice area for watching the swimmers.  We will need a few parents to hold stopwatches and time the swimmers, so please let us know if you’re willing to help out.

·         At last night’s city council meeting, repairs to the flooring at the Aquatic Center were approved.  This is good news, but it means thatthe pool will be closed from April 18-28.  We are still working out details on the practice schedule for May, but will probably have either no May dues or only half dues in May to compensate for the lost practices in April.  I will send a followup email once we make a final decision.

·         Mark your calendars for the ASA All-Parent Meeting on Monday, May 5 at 6:30pm in the shelter by the Aquatic Center.  We will hold elections for next  year’s ASA executive board and share some general updates about the team.  If you would be willing to serve on the ASA executive board, please let me know, as we still have a few open positions to fill for next year.

·         We still haven’t determined the exact start date for summer practices, but the summer practice times for the Swim Team will tentatively be Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 11:00 am-12:30pm and Tuesday/Thursday from 7-8:30pm.  Junior practices will be MWF11:00-11:45 am (with the regular team, but in their own lanes).  We will practice outdoors during the summer, weather permitting.

·         A note from the coaches: please remind your swimmers to arrive on time for practice and to bring along water bottles, especially as the weather starts to warm up.

I’ll let you know as soon as we finalize the summer schedule plans.  We will also have some information soon on the summer schedule for meets.

See you on Saturday!
